Scale on fixtures, spotted glassware and dry skin come from calcium and magnesium. A properly sized softener removes them through ion exchange, protecting the water heater, dishwasher and plumbing. We size it to your hardness reading and household, not to a guess.
Iron staining: an iron filter, often with a softener
Orange or brown stains in toilets, tubs and laundry mean iron, and on well water it is very common in Halton Hills. Low levels can be handled by a softener; higher levels or oxidized iron call for a dedicated iron filter ahead of it. The test tells us which.
That smell is hydrogen sulphide gas, usually from the well itself or from a reaction in the water heater. Oxidizing filters and catalytic carbon treat it at the point of entry so the whole house benefits. Because it is a gas, we test it fresh and on site when needed.
Municipal water is disinfected with chlorine, and it is what most people taste in a glass of tap water. A whole-home carbon filter reduces it at every tap, and a reverse osmosis system under the kitchen sink gives you the cleanest drinking water on top of that.
Sand, silt and rust particles clog aerators, wear out appliances and make water look cloudy. A sediment filter housing with the right micron cartridge at the point of entry catches it before it reaches your fixtures. It also protects any softener or UV system installed after it.
A failed bacteria test or an older, shallow or dug well calls for continuous disinfection. An ultraviolet system disinfects the water as it flows, with no chemicals and no change in taste. Clear water is essential for UV to work, so we pair it with sediment filtration and, where needed, softening.
A yellow or tea tint that does not settle out is usually tannin, organic matter picked up from soil and vegetation. It needs a specialized resin system rather than a standard filter. Tannin water often carries iron and hardness too, so we test for all three and treat them in the right order.
If the goal is great-tasting water for drinking and cooking, an under-sink reverse osmosis system is the most effective option. It reduces dissolved solids, chlorine, lead and many other contaminants and replaces bottled water for a fraction of the cost. Filter changes are simple and we stock every cartridge.
