How it works

  1. Test

    Iron, manganese, sulphur, tannins, hardness and pH, fresh at the tap where needed.

  2. Match the treatment

    Iron filter, sulphur filter, tannin system or a combination.

  3. Install in order

    Ahead of any softener or UV, with bypasses.

  4. Maintain

    Media and filters from stock, on a schedule.

Iron shows up as orange or brown staining in toilets, tubs and laundry. Hydrogen sulphide is the rotten-egg smell, strongest in hot water or first thing in the morning. Tannins tint water yellow or tea-coloured and do not settle out. They often appear together on the same well, and each needs its own treatment.

Low iron can sometimes be handled by a softener. Higher levels, or iron that has already oxidized, need an oxidizing iron filter. Sulphur is treated with oxidation and catalytic carbon. Tannins need a specialized resin system. We test for all three, plus hardness and pH, because the right combination and order depends on the numbers.

Common questions

Why does my water only smell in the shower?

Hydrogen sulphide is a gas that is released more readily from hot water. If it is only in hot water, the water heater may be the source, which changes the fix.
