How it works

  1. Test the water

    Clarity, iron and hardness decide the pre-filtration.

  2. Install UV and filtration

    Sized to your flow rate, with a bypass and lamp alarm.

  3. Retest

    We recommend a follow-up bacteria test after installation.

  4. Annual lamp service

    Lamp and sleeve replaced every year, from stock.

An ultraviolet system disinfects water as it flows past a UV lamp, without chemicals and without changing taste. It is the standard answer to a positive bacteria test on a private well, and a sensible safeguard on older, shallow or dug wells. We install Viqua, UV Dynamics and Luminor systems.

UV only works on clear water, so we check for sediment, iron and hardness first and install a sediment filter, and where needed softening, ahead of the unit. The lamp runs continuously and loses output over time, so it must be replaced every year, and the quartz sleeve cleaned or replaced with it.

We stock lamps and sleeves for the systems we sell and for most other brands. Bring in your old lamp or the model number and we will match it, or book a visit and we will do the service and check the system.

Common questions

Why does the lamp need changing every year?

UV output drops over time even when the lamp still glows. After about a year it may no longer disinfect reliably.

Does UV change the taste?

No. It adds nothing to the water.
