How it works

  1. Test and size

    We test hardness and iron and size the unit to your household.

  2. Quote in writing

    Equipment, installation and any plumbing listed separately.

  3. Install

    Bypass, drain and brine setup, then a full walk-through of the controls.

  4. Follow-up

    Salt, resin cleaner and check-ups from the store when you need them.

Hard water leaves scale on fixtures, spots on glassware, and a film on skin and hair. It also shortens the life of water heaters, dishwashers and washing machines. A water softener removes the calcium and magnesium that cause it through ion exchange, and a correctly sized unit does that efficiently with the least salt and water.

Sizing is where most softener problems start. We size yours from your actual hardness reading, the number of people in the home and your plumbing, not from a chart on a box. We are an authorized Excalibur dealer and install systems with metered, demand-initiated regeneration so the unit only regenerates when it needs to.

Installation includes a bypass valve, a drain connection and a walk-through of the controls and salt schedule. On well water we check for iron and sediment first, because those need to be handled ahead of the softener for it to last.

Common questions

How much salt will it use?

A properly sized metered softener regenerates only when needed, which keeps salt use low. We will estimate it for your household when we size the unit.

Will soft water taste salty?

Softening adds a small amount of sodium, generally not enough to taste. Many customers pair a softener with a reverse osmosis system at the kitchen sink for drinking water.
